We are seeking a visionary individual who can uncover exciting opportunities in menu innovation, production efficiency, and staff training. As a crucial member of our team, you will report directly to the Café Manager, working together to take our dining experience to new heights.
Primary and Essential Functions
MENU
- Developing weekly, monthly and seasonal specials;
- Altering the menu based on sales reports and trends;
- Developing recipes that are easy to read and provide consistency for the staff;
- Utilizes the specials planning tools and encourages staff to do the same;
- Effectively uses potential food waste to create new specials;
- Helps identify menu capacity by tracking waste and prep heavy projects;
PRODUCTION/OPERATION
- Manages larger, more complicated prep projects
- Ensures the staff is following prep schedules and par lists;
- Keeps kitchen clean and organized by recognizing cleanliness opportunities and delegating cleaning to staff;
- Tracks daily kitchen inventory and assists in keeping ordering pars accurate
- Conducts regular orders from but not limited to Wasatch Meats
TRAINING
- Develops training standards with other managers and then trains staff on and upholds said standards;
- Trains staff on kitchen skills and cooking techniques;
- Trains staff on kitchen organization and cleanliness best practices;
- Updates BOH recipes when needed and trains staff on recipe changes;
TESTPIECE GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Elevate guest satisfaction by providing the highest standard of service and quality;
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, new hire training, and ongoing training of employees;
- Enforce all safety, sanitation, and administrative procedures with employees;
- Work and fill in when needed for all café positions including cook, server, barista, and cashier;
- Manage POS system (experience with Toast a plus);
- Prep kitchen to ensure deliveries and inventory are adequate;
- Fulfill and direct daily cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, bussing and wiping down tables, washing dishes, and general cleaning of eatery;
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs;
- Set up station with food products, utensils, and sanitation buckets
- Cut, slice, unwrap, and prepare raw ingredients (e.g., fresh produce, meat cuts) for use on the line and for use in food prep recipes;
- Inspect color, consistency, and temperature of food products to ensure food is cooked to standards and guests' specifications;
- Clean station floors, counters, tools, cutting boards, and preparation surfaces using the proper cleaning solutions to ensure station remains sanitized;
- Assists management in keeping staff focused and on task as needed;
Requirements
- Passion for the culinary arts;
- Minimum of 2-years restaurant industry experience;
- Friendly, approachable and service-oriented;
- Ability to work nights and weekends;
- Hold a food handlers card and a sips and tips certification;
- Must be at least 21 years of age;
- Completed managers training at the DABC;
- Strong verbal communication skills;
- Writing skills including experience in documenting process
- Strong planning and organizational skills with special attention to details;
- Positive and a cheer leader for the organization;
- Proactive, self starter;
- Excellent project management skills;
- Creative and resourceful;
- Ability to manage stressful situations with composure;
- A superior level of member service and conflict resolution skills;

PAY: $15-$17/HOUR + TIPS
